The BVSD Growth and Development Priority Action Team believes:

Our talent is the key to student success! By fueling learning, discovery and advancement in all of our employees, we inspire a collaborative culture of growth for all. BVSD is committed to supporting relevant, high quality professional development Ed Growth Dev Blog 201603aligned with BVSD goals and employee effectiveness standards, from required learning to innovative coursework.

What’s New

The Professional Learning Department is busy configuring a new online system which will align professional learning opportunities with evaluation goals. To complement this new system/process, the Professional Learning Department is also expanding professional learning opportunities for all employees.

Every employee should have access to quality professional learning experiences that are aligned with BVSD’s values and goals to support student success. We are a district committed to growth, not only in our classrooms, but throughout the BVSD community.

Every employee will be asked to set a professional growth goal.

How do they do that?
By reflecting on their performance, gathering insights from their evaluator, and looking at other information, each employee will set a growth goal that they will pursue.

Each employee will be asked to select learning opportunities to achieve that goal.

How will they do that?
The new system provides an additional avenue for employees to search for opportunities to match their needs. Classes will be delivered in various formats: face to face, blended (online and face to face), and online.

To bring this new system to BVSD employees, the Priority Action Team and the Professional Learning Department have:

  • surveyed various schools and departments for their professional development needs
  • updated the evaluation process for all employees
  • gone through an extensive process to evaluate professional learning systems
  • purchased an innovative and connected system
  • collaborated on a communication plan to share with all employees on the changes that will be taking place
  • planned trainings for all evaluators and employees on the new system beginning in the summer of 2016

We look forward to sharing with you in the future our progress towards the implementation of the new system and the expanded learning opportunities available for our staff!
