This fall semester has been a very exciting time for our Growth and Development Success Effect Committee*. We have achieved a true milestone in our implementation of the new integrated professional development and evaluation online system.
In the MyPassport system, employees identify an area of growth after reflecting upon their strengths and challenges, communicate with their evaluator about their plans to meet their goals, and search for aligned learning opportunities. Boulder Valley School District employs 4,300 employees. Almost half of our employees are teachers and the other half serve the district in departments such as food service, transportation, maintenance, business services and curriculum and instruction. One of the Key Actions of the Educator Pipeline committee is to attract and recruit qualified teacher candidates both locally and nationally. Finding the highest quality teachers is often accomplished through recruiting efforts at local and national job fairs. During the 2015-2016 school year, hundreds of prospective applicants were able to speak to district and school administrators about working in the Boulder Valley School District. Over 75 teachers, administrators, staff, parents and community members are developing implementation plans for the BVSD strategic plan – The Success Effect – organized into six teams, each of which has been tasked with one of the priorities for The Success Effect.
